Whoosah!!!
Everyone could relate to some instances where we found solace in denying the very fact that things are not as we pleased but we tend to believe everything is fine. The act of self-deception can be seen along with life as it progresses. It can be from not getting an ice cream, to a cancelled vacation, to a denied love or to anything we expected, but didn’t receive. We make ourselves and others believe that we did not require it and we are good or we pretend to have it despite not having it. The simplest example is the well-known one-way love. We know we are not loved but we keep on believing we are being loved.
Self-deception is a basic human character to find peace temporarily, but the frustration it builds within us is insurmountable. At some point, we will reach a point where we can no more deceive ourselves. Which leads to quitting from the position we are in to even quitting from life altogether. To see the danger, the picture of self-deception should be read along with the incidents of suicides due to domestic violence, acid attacks and so on. It is better to realise the truth and move on rather than stick to the lies.
Let’s not deceive ourselves for too long. We only have one life, it is not to be ruined by lies we tell ourselves. Let’s lead an authentic life. Whoosah won’t work every time!!!
